Re: Infocom's lost network drive - found

I was going to post but I thought I was likely the last to know. (I found it last week.) Talk about the Holy Grail! If I were privileged enough to get hold of that I wouldn't have posted the emails but I couldn't tear myself away from reading all of it. Even better was reading the comments from many...

Some info with a bit about the plot of the 3rd Librarian movie here: http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-tntthirdlibrarianmovie,0,4957020.story The relevant text: *** The most mild-mannered action hero in TV history will be back on TNT late this year. The cable network has begun production on the thir...

Re: A very very Zork-themed book!

I just finished 'Tunnels' tonight. Here's my full review. :) 'Tunnels' is officially a 'kids’ book'- probably roughly the same target age as Harry Potter. It is set in England in the present day. The story starts out following a teenager named Will and his very dysfunctional family. Will's father ...

Re: A very very Zork-themed book!

I thought the same thing of NT2. It had a very similar feel to it to Zork I, with the old fashioned treasure hunt and secret entrances and dangerous terrain. That's probably a big part of why I enjoyed the movie so much.

I'll check out that book. It sounds very interesting!

Re: The castle in GI

I spent quite a lot of time attempting to fuss with it, but I never found anything that could be done with it.

The castle always struck me as a bit TOO odd. lol.

Re: text adventure documentary!

Wow!!  I looked at the list of interviews and nearly jumped for joy! This is just about the best thing an Infocom fan could hope for. All the imps recently interviewed in one place. I can't wait to hear what they all have to say.  :) I hope it really happens. It seems with so much work already done ...

Re: need some Beyond Zork help

I think you should be okay. I believe I started Brynna around 8 or so and everything was fine. IIRC, there are three ways to raise your compassion, one of which is necessary for a certain puzzle. I don't think the other two are too hard to recognize. I can't stand the taste of fish, alas. My intelli...

Re: need some Beyond Zork help

You do have to watch those attributes at the beginning. I think I started Brynna out with 14 intelligence, but if you can read the scrolls you should be okay.  If you need more, there's a potion that will help bring up intelligence somewhere.  (The potion locations are random.) One thing: Compassion...

Re: Bite-sized fan games

Every time I start, I lose interest very quickly.  My impression is that Beyond Zork has about the same bigness as Zork Zero.  How do they compare in other respects?  Maybe I should give it another go. I know I'm in the minority but I love Beyond Zork. It was the second Infocom game I ever playe...

Re: Bite-sized fan games

That is impressive!  It would take me months if not years to play all of those games.  When you say chronologically, do you mean by release date or by year GUE?  Are you including the Enchanter series? I can play Nemesis and GI in a day each.  RTZ would take a few days.  But the text games wou...

Re: Bite-sized fan games

I'd play or beta an Antharia Jack mini game. We did see what he got up to on the monitor, but it could be a good starter to play from his PoV. I'd love to have the chance to play as Dalboz; perhaps in the bit when he goes to try to make Yannick see reason. Of course Nemesis is full of off-camera stu...

Re: A short Tex Murphy demo by DrPaul

Not that this thread has to die.  For instance, have any of you guys played the short Tex Murphy games I posted on my website. If not, why not?  (I'm not taking no for an answer.) I haven't yet because I've been running around all over the northeast for the last month! Seriously.  I'll have a look ...

Re: A short Tex Murphy demo by DrPaul

Sounds like a great idea to me. Zork has quite an extensive backstory to draw from for inspiration, too. In the packaging, the histories and in the games themselves. Perhaps something about the size of TUU might work? I played all the Tex Murphy games back when they came out. I swear I even read one...

Interesting. I don't think it is on mine. Or if it is it didn't say so in the documentation. Mine's a Gateway promo, though.

Re: ZGI DVD problems

I don't think it matters unless it is an item they specifically say can't be shipped outside of the US. I have ordered from both the Canadian and UK Amazon sites with no trouble. As all the games are in the marketplace, you might want to check with the individual seller to make sure. The DVD only ha...
