Have You Seen The Uncyclopedian Zork Yet?

Post by Trar »

Uncyclopedia is a humor site. I'm not advertising it, I just want to show you the Zork parodies contained within. From Wikipedia:

"Uncyclopedia's Zork project, a parody on the old Zork games which, like the original Zork Trilogy, consists of three parts or versions: Zork, Zork II and Zork III. It is almost impossible to win these games, as most branches lead to either an infinite loop or the player's death (almost always being eaten by a grue). It spawned a series of jokes about people and articles being eaten by grues. There are also many similar/spinoff games, such as Zork Abridged, Game (which parodies Choose Your Own Adventure-style books), Abyss, a parody of Zork, and Uncyclopedia:Game:Game Online"

I've beaten UnZork I and II, BTW. There are games for Zorks III, IV, and V. Yeah, fictional stuff. I'm also authoring a Zork spinoff, if you know about Zork History, you know about Entharion's blade Grueslayer? Well, me and a team of UnZork authors made a game of it in the vein of UnZork, and boy is it a good monster so far. I'm the leader of tha group, BTW. Despite the Grueslayer sword and moniker, the player is still in danger of Grues, at least, in Easy mode. Hard mode lets you kill Grues on a mountain, and Intermediate mode, well, we're still not sure what the hell is going on there. Grueslayer is the unofficial sequel to ANOTHER UnZork parody: Abyss. Abyss is easy, i've beaten it many times. It's pretty deep and fun too. You can get to it by dying in UnZork 1. The game Grueslayer is entirely green tinted, with actual, pixelated, green pictures. The team has lost interest though, and it's only quarter-finished, and maybe some people from this site can help me work on it. There are many more of these games also, some of them based on Planetfall(this game was started by a member of the UnGS DEV TEAM), CYOA books, and random shiznit such as A Minefield. This is getting long, so I will leave it to you to play, discuss, edit, make, and work on these curious games.

BTW, i'm an established, retired-for-a-bit member of that site.

Very interesting indeed! ;)

Thanks for sharing, I know it will be useful to people of the forums that do not know of the parodies, such as myself.

May I recommend trying to play through one of those games? Or, at least play them, then leave your honest opinion on the talk page for the game. Make sure to say you're from this forum, tho. Otherwise, they'll mistake you for a n00b.
