Zork Abandonware

Post by Painless »

the zork text adventures are now abandonware, ladies and gentlemen, so let's give Infocom a rather weak hand. Anyway, this is probably no new news to people, but I figure I should mention it anyway. It's got quite a few nice things and can be found here-

Like I said, probably no new news, but it's a handy place anyway.

It must be pretty recent that all of the Infocom games were released. Not too long ago, Underdogs didn't have any of them except the ones specifically released by Activision (zork 1, 2, 3, ztuu).

Anyway, it's good news!

Now that all the downloads on my site are perfectly legal, I wonder if it's legal to put all my Zork history stuff up. Not that many people would look at the page, except people from here.

If Activision is releasing all of the old games for free, then they are not abandonware, they're freeware. Abandonware is games that have not officially been released, but are no longer endorsed by their companies.

Well I just emailed them to add my site to their Zork Links list. Hopefully this will generate MORE visitors and possibly more help on Z:THE.
