I saw it yesterday, too.  I liked it a lot.  If you are going to see it soon, here is a tip:
Take a pair of red/green 3D glasses with you and have them ready when the ship approaches Magrathea.  Also, keep an eye out for a cameo appearance of the BBC version of Marvin.

My biggest complaint is very small.  Since the movie was only Book One, they should have handled the bulldozer scene more completely.   The BBC version did.  Specifically, the new version leaves out the part where Ford talks Mr Prossor into lying in the mud, and they left out all the details about the plans being on display, only mentioning that they were in the basement.

I also liked the BBC Marvin's voice better.

I've seen it twice already, it is quite excellent. I liked how they have little things that die-hard fans can recognize (BBC Marvin in the queue; Simon Jones, the original Arthur Dent as the Magrathean recording; and one that really got to me: Journey of the Sorceror, the theme song in pretty much every previous Guide incarnation, played when they first showed the guide).

During the first showing I was having a great time, but afterwards I started thinking about all that was left out, but then I realized I hadn't gone to the theater to see the same jokes I'd read, heard, and watched on the television series. There's a LOT of new stuff here and overall it's a really great movie.

Be sure to stick around during the credits for an additional Guide entry (probably the best one).

My daughter noticed something that I missed, so I will have to check again: There was a scene which had several very fast cuts about a tenth of a second each.  I think it was while the Earth was being destroyed.  Anyway, one of the cuts was of a woman sitting at a bar, looking like she was about to realized the Answer, I mean, the Question.

If you recall, the Earth was destroyed just as the program to calculate the Ultimate Question was about to complete.  I expected them to come back to this in the movie, but they didn't.  It was so fast, one could easily miss it.  I did.  I'm not even sure if it was there.

Well I finally saw it a couple weeks ago and forgot we had this thread going about it lol.

Frankly the movie was only ok. I personally feel that the reason the books are good is because they let you have your own view and feelings as you journey through the adventure as though you were right there along side everyone just that no one seemed to notice you.

The movie forced things on me I didn't like and very obviously changed or added things that were clearly NOT in the book. Just to name the 2 that really took the cake were, Mr. Prosser, first they dont say who he is or anything, then not only does he NOT lay in the mud, but he gets beer and nuts with the other workers... sorry but that just ruined the entire movie right from the get go for me. The second one was the infamous Beeblebrox... ok is it just me or was it REALLY stupid that the heads were above each other even though as obvious as it should have been, the book is clear they are SIDE BY SIDE... let alone the removal of the one head would be IMPOSSIBLE being BELOW the other head and attached to the same spinal column and then the head is not visible unless he allows it, ARGH...

Anyways, there were enough things that were changed that I didn't really enjoy the movie too much. I wouldn't buy it nor see it again. I would MUCH rather read the books again.
