Ok. The Librarian: Quest for the Spear is over and now they're running The Librarian: Return to King Soloman's Mines. I checked TV Guide to see when these will be repeated again and it came up empty for the next two weeks. Sorry.
I gotta say, I liked the first one (Quest for the Spear) the most.

The original Librarian (from 2004) is on TNT right now!
Check listings. It'll probably be on again soon.

Re: The forgotten sequel
It's very easy to put an introduction at the beginning of the game. Near the bottom of the sample code is an "Initialize" routine which includes a print statement. You can print as long an introduction as you want right there in the print statement. Remember to keep everything within th...

Re: The forgotten sequel
The absolutely easiest way to set up you compiler is this: Create a directory where you want to work. In that directory put the compiler (infrmw32.exe) and the library files (English.h, Grammar.h, linklpa.h, linklv.h, Parser.h, parserm.h, Verblib.h, verblibm.h) in the same directory. It's also a ...

Re: The forgotten sequel
Here is some sample code that shows how to build three locations, how to connect them to each other, light them and place objects. You can build a substantial world with just these features. You can wander around, explore, take and examine objects and drop them if you like. Later, we'll talk abo...

Re: The forgotten sequel
Do you have any recommendations as to a site with basic Inform programming instructions for utter beginners? There are several websites that have tutorials for beginning Inform. Probably the best beginner's guide is "The Inform Beginners Guide" by Roger Firth and Sonya Kesserich. It is ...

Re: The forgotten sequel
James and Siriusstar- You both have described fairly ambitious storylines. So ambitious, it seems unlikely that these could be produced as 3D graphic adventures without the resources of a well-funded production company/game developer. It seems to me, in order to bring these ideas to life you have t...

Re: Malveaux (from Nemesis) sighting
Here's yet another recent Zork sighting: IN the newly released movie by Clint Eastwood, "Flags of Our Fathers", Sean Moran (who played the Mad Monk in Nemesis) plays a waiter. So now, we all gotta go see Flags of Our Fathers, too. Let's see if I can find some more recent stuff. Searchi...

Re: Malveaux (from Nemesis) sighting
I didn't see the first Librarian, so I looked it up on IMDB.com (Internet Movie Data Base). From the description, it sounds like fun, and certainly sounds Zorkish. The description of Flynn Carsen sounds like a Bruce Campbell character. With regard to The Prestige, there are many plot twists and so...

Malveaux (from Nemesis) sighting
Hey Guys, I went to see "The Prestige" a couple nights ago. Very cool movie, but more about that later. Anyway, there was an actor in it who played a character named Merrit who looked and sounded a lot like the guy who played Bishop Francois Malveaux (in the Zork Nemesis Monestary). So I...

Coincidence, or something more?
I watched the 1983 movie War Games today. It may be too old for some of you guys, but was kind of cool to see some of the stuff that qualified for state-of-the-art at the time. Things like 1200 baud modems with accoustic couplers, monochrome, text-only computer screens, 8 inch floppy disks and hac...

Re: About the Awful Abtruse AFGNCAAP
What I loved so much about the games was the sense that the adventurer was me and I was actually doing all those things. Besides the fact that I admire Siriusstar's descriptions, I'm not sure that it makes sense for the the Grand Inquisitor adventurer to be female. The reason is that when we're in ...
