ZorkFanDM - you got the rights.
ZorkFanDM - you're our man.

It's not a sequel, but there's a guy on the r.a.i.f newsgroup that says he has been negotiating with activision to re-release the Lost Treasures of Infocom.  All the games except HG2G and one other title which I can't remember.

Anyway, he says that Activision wants $70,000 to purchase the rights to release all of the Infocom games.

There is still some chatter about a Zork IV.  It sounds like somebody at Activision is trying to make it happen, but it has not really been green-lighted yet.  We'll have to keep our fingers crossed.

Hey, I didnt know you guys were working on a new one until now. Sorry I didnt know. I stil plan on buying the rights eventually, but this will be the first place I stop if I do. If someone else here gets the rights, then good luck to them! I just wanted to state my intention of keeping the name alive at least.

I bet that if they do make another Zork game the adventure season (now) is over again, and evrybody wants 'smack that bloody head off, you nasty misprint!'-games again, and the project is dumped.
Or they'll make a not-as-good-as-it-can-be-game because they have no idea's, but still think 'hey, maybe if we...'.

Probably bit depressing thoughts, but this is the way it goes.

ZorkFanDM can afford the rights? Crap, we couldn't even afford getting a license, let alone all of the rights.

(10k for a license)

Not yet can I afford the rights but as I said, I will eventually. I just need to finish school and get a job at a decent video game company, which I am in the process of doing.

EDIT: I would be willing to pay that if I had the money.
