This is a complete listing of all sources used for the completion
of the Zork Compendium. I have had access to several documents of
material that were intended
for release by Activision or contain material known to be deleted from
the final version of a product, which I consider to be in-canon.
Although it is amazing to see another
game with the name of Zork arise, the creators, while zealous (such as
the dedicated Implementor X), unfortunately lack full concept and
accuracy of the Zork canon. Thus I have added (relucantantly) the
material from Legends of Zork, only under the reasoning that it is
lincensed by Activision (it seems to be closer to a homage to the
series as a whole). All information added from that product has been
carefully reviewed and occassionally
mended to properly fit into the canon (such as the creators date the
game to 883~948 GUE, while numerous in-game references
clearly place the
game after 1067 GUE).
Also of note, Nino Ruffini's "Zylon the
Aged" novel, while originally intended to be fanfic, has a place in the
Zork canon, as many events detailed in it are referenced in Ruffini's
"History of Quendor" book, which Activision used (and bought from him)
as one of their Zork source books for Zork Nemesis and Zork Grand
Inquisitor.
At the time I am still in the process of tracking down more
rare material to add even more information to the Zork Compendium.
I am searching for anything and everything related to the Zork
universe, no matter how insignificant it may seem. While there are
certain definite know things on my want list, it is not limited to the
following:
- Design Documents/Maps/Notes/Etc (including more versions of what I already have)
- Design Artwork, etc
- Beta/Unreleated versions of Zork games (especially including the original infocom text adventures, specifically Lurking Horror)
-
Any other official Zork object that I do not have that would be
essential to adding canonical material to the encyclopedia.
