Re: Zork rereleases at Good Old Games (GOG.com)

This is wonderful news! I haven't been able to play RTZ in years and I'm really looking forward to it. It would be great if they get the others available soon, too. I'd love to see the games readily playable and available to everyone. :)

Re: Question about Zork Collectibles

Those are indeed two rare and highly sought-after posters. (By myself included!) They very occassionally show up on eBay and can easily fetch prices of $150-$300. Perhaps more (likely) or less (very unlikely!) depending on condition and the unpredictable nature of eBay. I have not seen one in a long...

Caves to build an empire in!

I just saw this on Yahoo and immediately thought of Zork. Go look at the pictures on National Geographic, too. Awesome! http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110103/ts_yblog_thelookout/explorers-discover-spectacular-caves-in-vietnam http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2011/01/largest-cave/peter-p...

Re: Zork on eBook Readers (Kindle, etc.)

I love my iPad! I have the 3G version and it goes with me everywhere. It is great to be able to check email on the road almost anywhere and and anytime. The game I've enjoyed the most so far is 'Osmos'- a beautiful arcade type game. I just got Frotz for iPad recently. I will try to work out a way to...

Re: Please help with Zork Zero?

I appreciate your help. I have now successfully passed the Fanucci game and have gotten the broom by waiting for the Trebled Fromps move and my 3 undertrumps, thanks so much for the clue. I don't understand the traditional rules of Fanucci, I am actually wondering if they make any sense at all. Unl...

Re: Get Lamp documentary now available!

Ah, but it is a rap video about grues! I'm certainly no fan of rap, but I'll make an exception to a rap song about grues. :) There is some awesome info in this documentary. I've seen it in various guises about four times now. (Next time I'm counting the lanterns.) It still boggles my mind that the I...

Re: The G.U.E. Tour

Zork is a history about an entire world, as you look at the map the place is actually huge. Well it occurred to me that a world has many things: languages, cultures, races, etc. If you look at it from that perspective and also add the fact that all games were at least 100-400 years apart (in the hi...

Re: The G.U.E. Tour

One of the reasons in which I associated the Zork games with the Exile Trilogy from Spider Web Software (from Jeff Vogel), was the fact that they had lots of similarities. And I waited and waited for years for Activision to re-release the Zork trilogy in a game similar to the way the Exile games we...

Re: The G.U.E. Tour

Thank you; I'm really glad that you enjoyed reading it. That's a great observation about the third game's Land of Shadow -- I'm certain you're right about that being the first strong hint to the new player that someone's "testing" the main character for some final trial. I haven't played ...

Re: The G.U.E. Tour

That was a great article! I shamefully never thought of layering the maps that way. (Shamefully because I've played the games countless times.) This is an excellent observation of an ingenious bit of worldbuilding and storytelling. There are many reasons why Zork has survived and those of us who wer...

Re: Hi there

Welcome! :)

So nice to see new folk around here. Personally speaking, there isn't nearly enough tangential info-prose around, so I'd like to see your articles. What books have you published?

Re: I don't understand....

I like the format well enough for myself. The trouble is that we never had a lot of people and the board seemed to lose several of its more active members during the long hiatus. I know I just got out of practice of coming here. For new people, having the website things arranged like a message board...

Get Lamp documentary now available!

The amazing 'Get Lamp" documentary is now available. If you ever played Infocom's Zork text games or have any interest in interactive fiction, you NEED to see this! http://www.getlamp.com/

My review: http://siriusstar.livejournal.com/153622.html

It is well worth the money!

Re: The Zork Compendium

This is awesome! It is wonderful to have all the facts in one place like this. While I don't mind the Irondune encyclopedia, I view it as fanfiction and wish it were marked a little more clearly as such.

I can't wait to see the History of Zork uploaded. :)

Fatal error: Illegal object
Now that IS a bug. If you're not having any other trouble with Frotz it looks as if your Zork file is corrupted. Perhaps ypu can download the Zork I file from a different source?
